FYI : here is what I use on all my PCs. All are free for personal use. They have kept my computers safe for years! I am a heavy-duty user and 22 year IT Pro - these have definitely been tested in the real world. There are several software programs because each specializes in a safety area and if you run all of them every week or month - you will stay safe! Note: Make sure to update each software program before running them.
1. Download and install each of the following: (all free for personal use)
CrapCleaner
SpyBot
Adaware Personal
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
2. Now start each and click on update and download/install the latest data file for each.
3. Run each : AVG and Adaware take a long time so go have lunch or something.
PLEASE keep in mind that there are new viruses, trojans, and malware created daily - the MOST important thing to do is update each before you run them so you have the latest data/inoculations available.iv>
